Week 7- Critical thinking

During week 7 we began by looking at a picture given to us of a shattered window with police and crowds in front of it. In groups we had to critically evaluate what we believed this image was trying to capture.

After zooming in around the picture as a group we decided that this was a protest as you can see a big banner stating STOP EDUCATION CUTS. There is also a police man with his baton out which also made us believe that this protest was intending on being broken up or had gotten out of hand. It was interesting to hear the different evaluations from each group who had all found different parts of the picture which told a further story.

We then completed an activity on Higher education and what different writers think the purpose for this is. Again there was many different attitudes to it that I hadn't even considered myself. This reminded me that when analysing things I should keep an open mind and try to see other points of view even if I don't necessarily agree with them.
