In the week 3 skills and perspectives workshop we have been looking at writing styles and why academic writing is so important, Although I did not make it to the workshop I have been working through the slides to ensure I have not missed any vital information and to catch up. In this there was a activity in which you corrected an essay written poorly by a past student, I tried my best to do this however due to me not being in the workshop I was nervous that the corrections I was making may have not necessarily been correct or accurate as I had no one there to compare notes with or ask for guidance.

Looking through the slides there is also a focus on the WEED strategy of evaluating text.

W - WHAT

E - EXPLAIN

E -EXAMPLES

D -DO

When using this to evaluate the text I felt more confident than I had with the previous activity. I remembered doing these kind of activities in my previous years of study and found I could do this activity without struggling. This boosted my confidence slightly as it made me feel like confident in my abilities.

I have found working full time this week has made it more difficult to keep on top of uni work, this is due to work scheduling me on a 60 hour week and my only free time was the Thursday morning in which I slept through due to being so exhausted. This week I have felt very overwhelmed due to this and I have spoken to work to inform them that I cannot work this much as my studies are being affected. I am hoping that going forward this will not happen again so that I can focus mainly on my studies and not working an extra 20 hours per week.
