Week 9 workshop this week focused on debating. I always have believed that debating has been a strength of mine as once I have gathered an opinion on something I always find facts and evidence to back up my point which I believe is crucial in a good debate. Another key part of a debate is persuasion as the overall goal from a debate is to get that other person seeing your viewpoint and hopefully agreeing with your facts by the end.

As debating has always been a strength of mine I believe this week would have shown my skillset within the workshop. Unfortunately I started to become very ill this week meaning that once again I was unable to attend this weeks workshop. This upset me as I was eager to get involved and show my tutor my debating skills. I also feel like yet again I have missed the opportunity to develop my skills further as there is always techniques to be learnt even when you are strong at something.

The topic is one that is also close to home for me personally. I am currently on a middle level dose (150mg) of sertraline as well as receiving CBT for treatment of my own anxiety. I feel that on this topic I would be torn on which side I would like to debate for so it would have been interesting to listen to the other views of students on this matter. I believe personally that it is very person dependant and for me personally I believe that the use of both of these together in unison has helped me begin to manage my anxiety. I believe therefore had I of been in this workshop it would have interesting to which side of the debate I would end up siding with and arguing that case.
