Week 2:

During week 2, we have started to learn how to select sources of information, apply strategies for finding useful information, and evaluate the usefulness of different sources. We got given the task to write about something business related to present in class next week.

By putting this to use, I know to use information that has been developed by evidence as it is the only way to prove something is factual. I decided to do this in my independent task by selecting a well-loved and popular media outlet, Refinery29.

The video I favored was true testimony towards strong women because it gave evidence of human life-real people with authentic stories as entrepreneurs with businesses that survived and grew willingly with no help. Using backed up claims, I knew that I would not be writing false allegations that could give the reader non-reliable information. Knowing I had a stable source of work with factual information to submit made me feel more confident. By starting to source information early, allows a head start for good academic writing.

Lately, I have been struggling to keep up with the work set for the last weeks even though I haven't been here long. Truthfully, I stress myself out over the smallest things, which in itself is a problem that I need to work persistently on to overcome. My job has stressed me out as I am working overtime. Understanding this, I need to start setting personal deadlines for myself. One way I have researched how to start managing my time more effectively and efficiently is a method called 'Parkinson's Law,' which means more time equals less effort needed. Giving yourself more time on a task stops extra unneeded stress by the date of your real deadline. Incorporating this method into my studies, I won't be overloaded. I have learned that I need to start working at an earlier date instead of deciding to cram it all in at once because I am just putting myself under pressure more, resulting in stressed and hurried work. Altogether, we have three modules per year we have to complete. The most informative module is Business Organisations and Operations as it includes a lot of real-life examples and incorporates reality into our work.
